Ham Yard Hotel

This hotel is full of personality and is quintessentially British. The afternoon tea is beautiful and served with gorgeous attention to detail. There is a diverse selection of savoury and sweet items available. Our favourites were the buttery sultana scones served with lashings of the clotted cream and jam! Question- do you cream or jam first? Is the famous disagreement between Cornwall (jam first, then cream) and Devon (cream first, then jam) really true?. Well, I did my undergrad degree in Exeter so I’m biased immediately. I will keep taste testing and let you know what is better….

There are also sugar free, gluten free and vegan afternoon teas available upon request if you should so desire.

Our very gorgeous French waiter was very friendly and the service could not be faulted. After our afternoon tea we were shown up to the roof terrace to have a look and also the main library. The whole feel of the hotel is of comfort and I was disappointed to leave.
